Breeding Philosophy

At Cuttin Coveys Kennels, our breeding program is built around one purpose: to advance the German Shorthaired Pointer through proven genetics, field ability, and competitive performance. We don’t breed for trends or convenience—we breed for dogs that can run, handle, and win at a high level.

Every pairing is intentional. We select breeding stock based on performance in the field, mental and physical soundness, bird drive, style, and the ability to compete under horseback trial standards. Titles, wild bird experience, conformation, and proven lineage all factor into our decisions.

Raising puppies starts long before whelping. We prioritize the health and conditioning of our females, manage pregnancies with care, and raise pups in an environment that promotes early development, confidence, and athleticism. From birth to placement, our goal is to produce pups with the genetics, structure, and instinct to succeed—whether their future is horseback trials, hunting, or breeding.
